Road upgrade begins

16 Mar, 2010 03:00 AM
WORK has started to help relieve congestion at the intersection of Nepean Highway and Lower Dandenong Road in Mentone, Mordialloc MP Janice Munt announced last week.

Ms Munt said the installation of an additional right-hand turn lane came after the completion of a $3million upgrade at the intersection of Boundary and Lower Dandenong roads late last year.

"As part of a local road safety program, the completion of these two important upgrades will ensure that local residents can be confident that our local roads are top notch," Ms Munt said.

"With building of stage three of the Dingley Arterial to commence this year, our new and improved local road network is starting to take shape with local residents the big winners.

"Under the proposed works, an additional right-turn lane will be installed in Lower Dandenong Road at a cost of $950,000.

"This will help relieve congestion and improve traffic flow through the intersection for motorists using Lower Dandenong Road and Nepean Highway.

"The installation of an additional lane for right-turning traffic will result in reduced queues and improve travel times for local motorists," Ms Munt said.
