EDITHVALE-Aspendale Junior Football Club under-16s centre half-back Ben Hall played his 150th game for his club against Frankston Dolphins last Sunday.
The year 11 student at Parkdale Secondary College has been playing footy for Edi-Asp since he joined the under-9s. He has also been a member of the Dandenong Stingrays development team since he was 13.
In that time he has played in four grand finals for two flags for the club.
‘‘It’s like he was born with a footy in his hands,’’ says his father Garry Hall. ‘‘He loves the game.’’
In fact, young Hall has a collection of more than 20 footballs around the house and garage.
Standing at 191 centimetres, and always being tall for his age, young Hall has always played on the half-back line, and his dream is to play centre half-back for the Stingrays when old enough, filling that spot held down with success some years ago by a young Trent Croad, who later played for Hawthorn.
Hall’s younger brother Matt plays for the Edi-Asp under-15s and has chalked up 110 games.
‘‘My wife and I do a lot of driving around on Sundays,’’ Garry Hall said.
Edi-Asp lost the match but Hall was one of the best on ground and was given an award by the club for reaching a sporting milestone.
